Huawei Band 3 Pro Fitness Tracker Review

0

In the last 5 years we have seen how technology companies have turned to the wearable market. Starting with fitness bands, until they are integrated with watches, the market is flooded with devices to be used while exercising. Huawei’s bet is simple and cheap in this regard with the Huawei Band 3 Pro that was launched alongside the new Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro.

A SPORTY DESIGN

The most important thing to note is that it is a fitness band above a fashion accessory. In that sense, you will not find the best design in the Huawei Band 3 Pro. Both the materials and the user interface leave much to be desired.

On the outside, you will find a band that will remind you a bit of Fitbit with a screen. It has an ergonomic design and a screen small enough to look good even on the thinnest wrists. Its silicone band will prevent it from sliding easily on the wrist.

One of the biggest advantages is that it is very light and you will practically not feel it in your day to day. What we did not love is that it is not consistent with formal clothing, for its sporty aesthetic. It comes in three different colors: black, blue and gold. The color gold with white is the one that best suits the costumes that are not sporty. The problem is that, if you choose a color, you must commit to it, since the straps cannot be changed.

The color gold with white is the one that best suits the costumes that are not sporty.

The AMOLED screen is 0.95 inches in color and touch sensitive. It has no physical button and all it has is a virtual button to return to the home screen. However, we often noticed that although navigating through the menu was very easy, when pressing an option, the screen answered us and we had to touch the option more than once to respond.

That said, we must say that the screen is bright enough to see it day and night. It will not change the brightness automatically depending on the environment, but it does have an option for the brightness to decrease at night. It is quite useful not to blind you in the dark.

One of the things we would like it to have is internal storage to be able to listen to music without having to depend on the cell phone.

EASY TO USE

Huawei did not focus enough on the design of the Band 3 Pro and this includes the user interface. You can see the most important statistics such as how many steps you have walked, see the time and battery status, but the truth, they could have made a more refined design. We looked for if there were other screens but there were only two, and the second option did not seem much better than the one that comes by default.

From there, when you slide your finger up or down, you access several features, such as the start of an exercise session or, the reading of the heart rate, as well as a menu with options to adjust the band.

We searched if there were other screens but there were only two.

At the center of it all, however, is the Huawei Health application, where you can monitor your sleep, activity and other options.

THE HUAWEI HEALTH APP IS FRIENDLY

The Huawei health application is through which you can have an overview of your statistics. From there, you can configure your profile and include data on height, weight and gender. You can also obtain a detailed description of the quality of your sleep, taking into account factors such as deep sleep, the number of times you woke up, whether your sleep was continuous or not, among many other things.

Additionally, you will be able to see statistics about your heart rate, as well as the hours you walk.

Finally, we must highlight that the battery was one of the things we liked most about this fitness bracelet. In continuous use, it lasts almost three days. The only bad thing is that it comes with a very short cable, so you must connect it to a computer, although any other Micro USB cable is used to charge it. This connects to a small base that is a little difficult to glue to the band with metal pins. We would like you to connect directly to the band, since on a trip, the base can be easily lost.

CONCLUSION

For its price of $ 70 dollars, the Huawei Band 3 Pro is a very good option. If you do not want a smart watch and what you are interested in is more than anything, having a device that tracks your activity is a good option.

Faced with its competition, the price is unbeatable. The Samsung Gear Fit 2 Pro costs $ 200, although it can save a huge amounts that you don’t expect.

The Band 3 Pro will have a two year warranty and is waterproof.
